I build software people enjoy using.

Most of my work is full-stack web, from SaaS products to the AI features inside them. I also build Linux desktop tools, motion studies and the interface design behind my own projects. I like work that needs careful engineering and a clear, usable experience.

Shafi Designs is the personal portfolio of Mohammed Shafi, a full-stack developer and AI engineer based in Chennai, India. Not to be confused with Shafi Maliyekkal Designs (architecture, Kerala).

Experience

  1. May 2026 - PresentCurrent

    Founder & Lead Developer

    Klyn Studio

    • Klyn is a design and development studio that makes websites, apps and brand systems for businesses, with one team seeing each project through from the first brief to launch.
    • I run the studio: I bring in and work with clients, set the design direction and lead development on every project.
  2. Jan 2025 - PresentCurrent

    Full Stack Developer

    Devrinth

    • Develop and deliver internal software for organisations, including ERP systems for schools and colleges, project management, finance, attendance and messaging tools. The biggest of these runs a college of over 500 students.
    • Bring AI agents into back-office operations, and build the Android apps and admin interfaces teams use to run them.
  3. Jan 2026 - Apr 2026

Software Engineer, RL Training - Coding Models (Contract)

    Confidential Frontier AI Lab

    • Converted real pull requests from large open-source projects into graded coding-model tasks, including repository snapshots, reference patches and verification tests.
    • Worked across unfamiliar Rust, C++, C, Go and Python codebases and their build systems.
    • Designed tests that rejected superficial fixes and calibrated tasks to a model solve rate of roughly one in five.

Tooling

I choose tools based on the product and where it needs to run.

Full-stack web

I build web products end to end, from auth and data models to the dashboards people work in every day.

In the toolkit

  • Next.js
  • React
  • TypeScript
  • Prisma
  • Auth.js
